"Guaranteed to take you back to the good ol' days of RPGS!"
I wish that was true, but unfortunately that didn't require a player to jump over to another site in order to get "gems" and other junk. Sadly, this is the way of online gaming and profit is the only way to keep the creative cogs moving.
Don't get me wrong, Fantasy Online is certainly fun. I think the best parts of it involve the additions of humor added to intricate descriptions of items and quest logs. Very much similar to that of the Mardek RPG series.
There are problems which need to be fixed, but that will come with time as always. In fact, playing the game with others just seems like more of a chore. If anything, I was hoping for something along the lines of creating your own back-up characters to aid you in battles. Instead I get barraged by "hey, you want to be my friend and party up" messages like crazy. I mean no disrespect to other players, but I want to experience much of the game by myself first.
Lag is another problem that always occurs when a game is played on crowded servers. I mean, these servers are filled to the top. A few extra servers will eliminate the problem for the gamers playing now. I don't expect to see new servers soon, but it certainly is an idea worth throwing out there.
Also, the fact that finding pocket, socket, helmet, and shoulder items is harder when first starting off just seems lazy. Creating a couple basic clothing for those categories would eliminate the problem. Nothing too fancy, but enough to make us gamers feel like we're fully prepared and equiped when going into battle.
-----
Bottom line, the game is fun. That's a very important thing for a game. Without the basic function of making a player happy a game becomes nothing more than a chore. Big props here for keeping the level of fun always above par.
Everything else in this game has it's ups n' downs. There is nothing spectacular that makes this game stand up above the rest of RPG gaming out there. That and I hate when you have to purchase crap to get the full game experience. It feels like you're pulling what I refer to as a "Capcom". Hardcore gamers will understand that reference.
I look forward to future productions.
Adios! *poof*
